Program Highlights
This program is perfect for young beginners, offering a gentle introduction to art through age-appropriate activities. Kids will explore themes like animals, nature, and family, creating artworks that reflect their world. Classes emphasize playfulness, with hands-on activities to keep young artists engaged and excited.
Duration: 3 months (12 weeks, 1 class per week)
Age Group: 5–8 years
Objectives
- Develop basic drawing skills, focusing on shapes, lines, and simple forms.
- Explore painting with vibrant colors to create expressive artworks.
- Understand color theory basics, such as primary colors and mixing.
- Experiment with mixed media to combine materials for fun, tactile creations.
- Encourage imagination and self-expression through guided projects.
Tools and Materials
Required for Drawing and Mixed Media:
Pencils, erasers, sketchpads, crayons, color pencils, oil pastels, construction paper, glue sticks, and scissors.
Required for Painting:
Paint brushes, small canvases (8x10 inches), acrylic paints, watercolor tube paints, and palettes.
Note: Students must purchase their own materials. A convenient all-inclusive materials package is available from Rainbow Arts Studio.
Techniques Taught
Drawing:
Simple contour drawing, hatching for texture, and creating basic shapes (circles, squares, triangles).
Painting:
Brush handling (flat and round brushes), color blending, and creating bold, expressive strokes.
Color Theory:
Identifying primary and secondary colors, mixing colors to create new shades, and using colors to show emotions.
Mixed Media:
Layering crayons and color pencils, collaging with paper and fabric scraps, and adding texture with oil pastels.

Themes like fantasy worlds, community, and dreams inspire projects that blend technical skill with personal expression. Group activities foster collaboration, while individual guidance helps each child shine.

Using complementary colors for contrast, creating color wheels, and applying color to evoke mood.
Mixed Media:
Combining markers and oil pastels for vibrant effects, collaging with tissue paper and foam, and incorporating found objects (e.g., buttons or yarn).
Program Highlights
Tailored for teens with a passion for art, this program offers a studio-like experience to hone skills and develop a personal style. Themes like identity, technology, and the future inspire ambitious projects. Teens will lead mini-critiques and plan a final showcase, building confidence and a sense of ownership in their art.
Duration: 6 months (24 weeks, 1 class per week)
Age Group: 13–15 years
Objectives
- Master advanced drawing techniques, including realism and expressive styles.
- Develop professional painting skills for composition and narrative art.
- Deepen understanding of color theory, focusing on advanced concepts like tone and value.
- Innovate with mixed media to create complex, multi-dimensional artworks.
- Foster leadership and critical thinking through peer critiques and project planning.

Required for Drawing and Mixed Media:
Pencils, erasers, sketchpads, crayons, color pencils, oil pastels, fine-tip pens, textured papers, and adhesive materials (e.g., double-sided tape).
Required for Painting:
Paint brushes, canvases (12x16 inches), pencils, erasers, acrylic paints, watercolor tube paints, and professional-grade palettes.

Techniques Taught
Drawing:
Realistic shading with blending stumps, dynamic line work with pens, and expressive gesture drawing.
Painting:
Impasto with acrylics for texture, glazing with watercolors for transparency, and composing balanced artworks.
Color Theory:
Exploring tone, value, and saturation, using analogous colors for harmony, and creating focal points with color.
Mixed Media:
Integrating fine-tip pens with oil pastels, layering textured papers for depth, and experimenting with unconventional materials (e.g., wire or mesh).

Our Story
At Rainbow Arts Studio, we're fueled by a deep passion for teaching kids the joy of arts, crafts, and creative techniques. Founded in 2015 by our inspiring art teacher, Shilpa Pulluri, this studio is more than just a place to learn—it's a vibrant space where young minds are encouraged to explore, create, and dream big.
Our Founder's Journey
Shilpa, a self-taught artist, discovered her love for art through crafting beautiful pieces to decorate her home. But it was teaching her four-year-old son that truly sparked a revelation. Watching him naturally embrace art and express his creativity opened her eyes to the transformative power of artistic exploration. Inspired by this experience, Shilpa founded Rainbow Arts Studio to share that same magic with other children, helping them unlock their potential through the gateway of art.
